Important:  There has been quite a bit of interest in the inner-workings of our fire district.  Some of this is good, healthy inquiry into how the public dollars are being spent.  Some is politically-motivated and malicious in nature.  We strive to publish more information that most other fire departments because we believe the public has a right to know what we do with their money.  We provide a Class II fire rating at a very low cost (dollars per capita per year) and remain the only accredited fire department in Louisiana.

Regrettably, many of the record requests received lately from a few people are burdensome, unreasonable, and we think calculated for the purpose of harassment.  We even respond to those public record requests as long as they are allowed by the Louisiana Public Records Law.  While East Side has previously provided a fair amount of information free of charge, due to past abuses the Board of Commissioners has decided that fees for documents produced will be levied pursuant to the Lousiana Public Records Law.  Our document charge is twenty-five (25) cents per page, which is consistent with that charge set by the State of Louisiana.  East Side is efficiently staffed to provide our District and its residents quality, cost effective fire and emergency services.  Some of these previous burdensome requests have strained resources and created costs for our residents that are better allocated to emergency protection and services.  As always, ESFD will work toward satisfying any requests for public records consistent with Louisiana law.   Please check our very comprehensive website for information as you may find that the information you request is already available on this site or through other public sites.  Please forward your formal requests in writing to our attorney:
